The classic Greek Revival detailing is fully expressed at the main house, and to a lesser degree, at the guesthouse and garage. This pattern follows in the additive New England tradition of big house, little house, back house, and barn. The house is located at the woods edge of an expansive meadow with distant mountain views. The interior layout of the house is arranged to function as a comfortable retreat for two. The attached guesthouse, a renovated ‘70s structure, functions as a separate self-contained unit complete with kitchen and living room. At the center of the great room of the main house is a soapstone Russian fireplace that acts as a sculptural element, defining spaces and spreading warmth on cold winter days.
